Stob Ban stands a little apart from the main Grey Corries ridge, a pointed cone joined to it by a col. Its name means 'white peak', and the top is covered in pale schist scree that stands out against the grey quartzite of its neighbours. The north-east face is steep and craggy, a cairn marks the summit, and the Mamores and the hills around Loch Treig stand out in the view.
