Stuc a' Chroin is thought to come from the Gaelic for 'cloven hoof peak', though translations such as 'peak of danger' are also given. It sits beside Ben Vorlich, and the boundary between Perth and Kinross and Stirling runs over the top. From the Bealach an Dubh Choirein a prominent buttress rears up towards the summit, with rough paths and some scrambling on its flank. There are two cairns, and the one on the east side is the higher.
