Ben More, 'big mountain', is the highest point in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, a bulky cone above Crianlarich with a trig point on top. The north-west side is very steep, climbing about 1,000 m in roughly 4 km, and a snow patch on the north side often lasts into June. In 1973 a Viscount airliner on a test flight struck the mountain, killing all four on board. Stob Binnein, its near twin, lies just to the south.
