Quarrying has left its mark here: the now-closed Graig Ddu Quarry lies in the hollow between Manod Mawr's summit and this North Top, and there were fears it would eventually remove the top altogether. Rising to 658 m with a cairn on top, the North Top only just misses out on Snowdonia National Park protection. Manod Mawr itself is 1.2 km away, with Moel Penamnen 2.7 km off.
