A' Mhaighdean means 'the maiden', and it's one of the hardest Munros to reach in northern Scotland, about 13 km north of Kinlochewe. Its summit is the highest point of the Lewisian gneiss, and the usual approach from Poolewe crosses the causeway between Fionn Loch and Dubh Loch. A cairn marks the top, with a pointed boulder just beside it.
