Slioch towers over the south-east end of Loch Maree and is one of the most photographed sights in the Highlands. The name comes from the Gaelic for 'spear', and it has twin summits: the southern one carries a trig point, while the highest point is a rock outcrop beside a cairn. Standing apart from other hills, it looks north into the Fisherfield wilderness and across to the Torridon mountains, and feral goats are often seen on its slopes.
