Aonach Mòr, the 'big ridge', is a long, bulky mountain north-east of Ben Nevis, topped by a large cairn on a grassy plateau. The Nevis Range ski area opened on its northern slopes in 1989, and its gondola gives the quickest way up. Coire an Lochain holds one of Scotland's longest-lasting snowfields, and a high col links it to Aonach Beag, its slightly higher neighbour.
