Ben Wyvis is a long, whale-backed mountain in Easter Ross, and its highest point, Glas Leathad Mor ('the great green slope'), has a trig point. The summit plateau is carpeted with woolly hair-moss, one of the longest stretches of this habitat in Britain, and dotterel breed up there. Local tradition says the Munro clan held their land on condition they could hand over a snowball at midsummer if asked.
