At 905.6 m this is the highest peak in the Arans, the county top of historic Merionethshire, and the only Welsh peak outside northern Snowdonia above 900 m. The best ascent is from Cywarch to the south, with a longer ridge climb possible from the Bala side, and a trig point marks the top. On the eastern slopes, the small lake Creiglyn Dyfi is the source of the River Dyfi, and a cairn on the eastern ridge remembers RAF Mountain Rescue team member Michael Robert Aspain, killed by lightning in 1960.
New to the Pennants?Read our guide: What Are The Welsh Pennants?A long rocky ridge whose eastern side falls steeply in crags to glacial cwms holding Creiglyn Dyfi and Llyn Lliwbran, while the western slopes are rocky but less steep.
