Three historic counties, Montgomeryshire, Denbighshire and Merionethshire, meet at the top of Moel Sych, which at 826.7 m is the highest point of Montgomeryshire. A subsidiary summit of Cadair Berwyn, 0.7 km away, it was often considered the highest of the Berwyns until later surveys. Its cairn overlooks Llyn Lluncaws in the cwm to the south, and legend names these peaks as the throne of Gwyn ap Nudd.
