Back Tor is the crowning block of Derwent Edge, a weathered gritstone tor with a trig pillar standing on its flank. Scramble a few metres onto the rock itself and you're on the true top, looking over the Upper Derwent Valley and out across the Dark Peak. To the south the edge runs past wind-carved stacks with names like the Salt Cellar and the Cakes of Bread.
