Beinn a' Bhùird is a broad-backed granite mountain with two summits about 3 km apart, and the higher, northern one has a cairn on a flat, level top. Its name is usually given as 'mountain of the table', which suits that flat plateau. A ski resort opened on its slopes in 1963 but was abandoned two snow-poor winters later. To the east, a col called The Sneck links it to Ben Avon.
