Ben Avon is a sprawling plateau in the eastern Cairngorms, with ridges running off in nearly every direction and granite tors dotted across the top. The summit is a tor called Leabaidh an Daimh Bhuidhe, 'bed of the yellow stag', and you'll need an easy scramble to stand on it. The mountain's Gaelic name means 'mountain of the Avon'. To the west, the huge rocky corrie of Slochd Mòr separates it from Beinn a' Bhùird.
