Derry Cairngorm is a long north-south ridge in the central Cairngorms, with two cairns on top, the northern one being the high point. Its Gaelic name, Càrn Gorm an Doire, means 'blue cairn of Derry', the Derry part coming from the old Scots pine woods on its southern slopes. The upper slopes are a jumble of big granite boulders, slow and awkward underfoot, and Loch Etchachan lies in the corrie to the north.
