Bynack More stands a little apart in the north-east corner of the Cairngorms, joined to Cairn Gorm by a high col called The Saddle. Its granite plateau is dotted with tors, and the Barns of Bynack, the biggest about six metres tall, lie just south of the summit. Nobody agrees what the name means, with 'cap', 'big little mountain' and 'chimney pot' all suggested. The cairn is built from granite boulders.
