Beinn Sgritheall's Gaelic name means 'scree mountain', and its upper west face is a jumble of crags and scree. The south face climbs almost straight out of Loch Hourn, rising nearly 1,000 m in about 1.6 km. Sir Hugh Munro rated the summit view, which reaches Skye, Rùm and Knoydart, as perhaps the loveliest he knew in Scotland. A cairn and stone shelter mark the top; the old trig point has been destroyed.
