Bidean nam Bian sits at the heart of a tangled mass of ridges and corries south of Glen Coe, and its cairned top is the highest point in Argyll. The Gaelic name is usually translated as 'peak of the mountains'. Its long spurs run down to the glen as the Three Sisters, and between two of them lies Coire Gabhail, the Lost Valley, where the MacDonalds are said to have hidden cattle.
