Maol Chinn-dearg, the 'bald red head', sits in the middle of the South Glen Shiel Ridge, between Aonach air Chrith and Sgurr an Doire Leathain, with a cairn on top. It has three distinct shoulders, and on its northern spur a small lochan sits at the head of an old landslip. A stalkers' path up Druim Coire nan Eirecheanach gives a direct way up from the Glen Shiel road.
