Ruadh-stac Mor, the 'big red stack', is the highest point of Beinn Eighe, sitting on a spur off the main ridge with a cairn on top. Beside it lies Coire Mhic Fhearchair, famous for its Triple Buttress. In 1951 an RAF Lancaster crashed high on Beinn Eighe, and the long struggle to recover its eight crew led to formal training for RAF mountain rescue teams. Lower down is Britain's first national nature reserve, set up the same year.
