Beinn Liath Mhòr means 'big grey hill', and pale quartzite scree alongside darker Torridonian sandstone gives it a two-tone look. Its summit ridge stays high for about 2 km, with a big quartzite cairn on the top at its west end. From the top there's a side-on view of Liathach's pinnacles, with scattered lochans and Upper Loch Torridon below.
