Sgùrr Fhuaran is one of three Munros on the Five Sisters of Kintail, the ridge seen so well from Màm Ratagan above Loch Duich. Its name is obscure: 'peak of the springs' is one idea, and 'Sgùrr Uaran' is the war cry of the Clan Macrae. Legend says the Sisters were five women turned to peaks by a wizard. Its west-north-west ridge drops about 1,000 m to the River Shiel in just over 2 km.
