Cribyn rises to 795 m on the north-facing escarpment of the central Brecon Beacons, with the ridge running west to Pen y Fan, 1.2 km away. Eastwards the ridge drops to Bwlch ar y Fan, crossed by an ancient trail sometimes called 'The Gap Road', before climbing to Fan y Big. A small cairn marks the top, and in clear weather the views north towards Mynydd Epynt, Brecon and the Cambrian Mountains are especially impressive.

Rock & Ground

Its upper slopes are Old Red Sandstone, and small ice-age glaciers left very steep northern and eastern faces with moraines at the foot of the cliffs.
