Whether it belongs to the Berwyns or the Arans causes some confusion: Foel y Geifr forms part of the Hirnant horseshoe, so many count it a Berwyn peak, yet geographically it is the eastern outpost of the Arans, a subsidiary of Esgeiriau Gwynion. At 626.2 m it is the highest point of the ridge forming the western backwall of Cwm Hirnant, with Trum y Gwragedd and Foel Goch along it too. A trig point stands on the grassy top.
New to the Pennants?Read our guide: What Are The Welsh Pennants? The summit is grassy, with heathery, boggy ground around it.
