Base Brown pushes out into the head of Borrowdale above Seathwaite as a steep-sided dome ringed by crags, with a cairn on its grassy top. North of the summit, the Hanging Stone juts over the rim of the crags, and below it Sour Milk Gill tumbles in cascades out of Gillercomb. Higher neighbours limit the view, but you see the north face of the Scafells close up and look down Borrowdale to Derwentwater and Skiddaw.
