Green Gable sits on the shoulder of Great Gable, just across the narrow col of Windy Gap, and its stony top carries a neat cairn. From here you get a head-on look at Gable Crag across the gap, and a long view down the Buttermere valley. On the Ennerdale side the ground drops over Greengable Crags into Stone Cove, while Aaron Slack, a scree chute, runs down the other way to Sty Head Tarn.
