Glaramara is a long, knobbly ridge between Langstrath and Grains Gill, strung with rocky tops and small tarns. The highest point is a pointed rock just south of a cairn, and the view north down Borrowdale towards Skiddaw is the one people remember. Its Norse name is thought to mean 'hill with the mountain hut by a chasm', and on its northern side the glacial hanging valley of Combe Gill holds the Dove Nest Caves.
