Hallin Fell stands like a plug at the mouth of the Martindale valleys, with Geordie's Crag jutting out into Ullswater at its northern tip. A tall, square-sided stone obelisk marks its grassy top. The south and west slopes are so smooth that Wainwright reckoned you could climb them in bare feet, and several paths start from St Peter's church at The Hause.
