Scoat Fell's top is a long, flat ridge with a drystone wall running right along it, and walkers have built a small cairn on top of the wall itself. The highest rock is just north of the wall, and a narrow spur leads north from here to Steeple, and both the coves facing Ennerdale and the head of Mosedale have steep crags. The Ordnance Survey calls the summit Little Scoat Fell, even though the 'Great' top to the west is lower.
