Burton Bole is the highest ground on Shatton Edge, the heathery moor rising south of the Hope Valley. The top has no marker, just heather a few metres from a grouse butt. A heather-covered round barrow sits close by, and a small stone circle on Abney Moor lies under a kilometre to the east.
