Above Buxton, Grin Low is crowned by Solomon's Temple, a small Victorian tower you can climb for a view over the town and the hills around it. The tower stands on a Bronze Age burial mound and replaced an earlier one put up by Solomon Mycock, landlord of the Cheshire Cheese, in the 19th century. Townspeople and the Duke of Devonshire paid for the new tower, which opened in 1896 and was restored in 1988.
