High Wheeldon is a neat dome above Earl Sterndale and Upper Dovedale, close to Chrome Hill and Parkhouse Hill. Its owner gave it to the National Trust in 1946 as a war memorial, and a plaque on the summit remembers the men of Derbyshire and Staffordshire who died in the Second World War. Just below the top is Fox Hole Cave, now gated, where finds include Bronze Age pottery, a stone axe and flint tools.
