Mill Hill is a flat, bare dome on the Pennine Way between Kinder Scout and Bleaklow. Walkers have worn away so much peat around the summit cairn that the highest ground is now a little to the north-east. On 11 October 1944 an American Liberator bomber on a ferry flight from Burtonwood flew into the hill in low cloud; both crewmen survived, and pieces of the aircraft still lie on the moor.
