At the head of Cressbrook Dale, Wardlow Hay Cop has a trig point standing on a large round burial mound that has never been excavated. The hill is open access land within the Derbyshire Dales National Nature Reserve. Below it to the north-west is Peter's Stone, a limestone knoll where Anthony Lingard's body was hung in chains in 1815 after he murdered the toll-keeper at Wardlow Mires.
