Wolfscote Hill rises between Wolfscote Dale and Biggin Dale south of Hartington, looking down on the River Dove. On its summit is a Bronze Age burial cairn more than 20 m across, dug by Thomas Bateman in 1843 and Samuel Carrington in 1851, who found a stone cist holding the skeletons of two children. The southern slopes belong to the National Trust, left to it in 1939 by Lady McDougall.
