Ben Cruachan is a sharp peak between Loch Etive and Loch Awe, the high point of a horseshoe of summits around the reservoir in its southern corrie. Its name is thought to mean 'mountain of peaks', and 'Cruachan!' was the battle cry of the Campbells. Hidden in a cavern deep inside the mountain is a pumped-storage power station. The Ordnance Survey trig pillar that once stood on the top has since fallen apart.
