Bidein a' Choire Sheasgaich sits at the western end of a ridge it shares with Lurg Mhòr, deep in the empty country west of Loch Monar, and it's often called the 'Cheese Grater'. Crags guard the summit on the north and east, but the top itself carries a simple cairn. The name is usually given as 'peak of the corrie of the barren cattle', though some read it as 'reedy corrie'. Cameron McNeish counted it among the loneliest Munros in Scotland.
