Sgurr a' Chaorachain stands on a long, rugged ridge between Glen Uig and the far western end of Loch Monar, in remote country. Three ridges meet at the top, which carries a broken trig point. The name is thought to mean 'peak of the torrent'. To the east the ridge runs out to its subsidiary top, Bidean an Eoin Deirg, before dropping to crags above the loch.
