Lurg Mhor is one of the remotest Munros, tucked away west of Loch Monar on the Attadale Estate, and every approach is long. Its name is translated as 'big ridge stretching into the plain' or 'big shin'. A cairn sits on a rock outcrop at the top, and a long, narrow east ridge with cliffs on its north side runs out to Meall Mor, needing some scrambling between the two summits.
