Broad Cairn rises above the southern end of Loch Muick in Royal Deeside, with other Munros all round it, so most people fold it into a longer round. The name simply means 'broad hill'. Its bouldery top, marked by a cairn, sits above rolling grassy ground, and anyone heading round the loch anticlockwise meets a boulderfield on the way down. Creag an Dubh-loch is its subsidiary top.
