Carn Mairg tops the group of four Munros above the north side of Glen Lyon, and its summit carries a large cairn built from grey quartzite boulders. The Gaelic name is usually read as 'hill of the horse', though 'hill of sorrow' and even 'pudding hill' have been suggested. From the top there's a fine view north-east across Gleann Mor to Schiehallion, about 4 km away.
