Meall Garbh means 'rough round hill', and it sits on the north side of Glen Lyon in the Carn Mairg group, about 3.5 km west of Carn Mairg itself. The ground here is high, rolling moorland with only shallow dips between the summits, and a line of old, rusting fence posts runs along the ridge. There's a large cairn on top, though the highest point is a boulder a few metres to the south-east.
