Càrn Sgulain is the most easterly Munro of the Monadh Liath, a broad, rounded hill usually climbed along with A' Chailleach to the south. Between the two, the ground is cut by a steep little grassy gully. The highest point is unmarked ground just north of the summit cairn, and a second cairn further east-north-east stands lower.
