Creag Mhor, 'big crag', takes its name from the rocky buttresses near its cairned top, where three broad shoulders meet above remote Glen Lochay. Coire Cheathaich on its flank was once a royal hunting ground, and the Gaelic poet Duncan Ban MacIntyre, who worked there as a gamekeeper, wrote a poem about the corrie. The rare alpine bartsia grows on its slopes higher than anywhere else in the UK.
