Geal-charn is a smooth, rounded hill on the west side of the Drumochter Pass, with no crags to speak of. Its highest point is a rock just east of a windshelter, and a cairn on a slightly lower eastern top can confuse walkers. The Gaelic name means 'white cairn' or 'white hill', and the top looks west over Loch Ericht to the wild country around Ben Alder. Dotterel nest on the high ground in summer, so dogs should be kept on a lead.
