Mullach nan Coirean, 'summit of the corries', is the most westerly of the Mamores, a sprawling hill with four ridges and several corries, the finest being Coire Dearg. Its granite gives it a reddish tint, in contrast to the pale quartzite cap of its neighbour Stob Ban. A large cairn marks the top, which looks out over Loch Linnhe. Near the end of the northern ridge, above Glen Nevis, are the remains of Dùn Deardail, a vitrified fort probably named after Deirdre, a princess of Ulster.
