Highest peak of the Black Mountain (Y Mynydd Du) at 802.5 m, Fan Brycheiniog has a trig point on the edge of its escarpment and, nearby, a stone shelter with an inner seat. The Beacons Way runs along the summit ridge and drops by a stone staircase towards Llyn y Fan Fawr, with stone pavements over some of the peat bogs. Less than a kilometre north-west, the top of Fan Foel is the county top of Carmarthenshire and holds an excavated Bronze Age burial cairn.
