Its Welsh name means 'long peak', and it fits: this escarpment at the eastern end of the Black Mountain runs for about 4 km and faces east. The col of Bwlch Giedd separates it from higher Fan Brycheiniog, reached by a stone staircase from Llyn y Fan Fawr, and the popular ridge path looks out to Pen y Fan and Corn Du. The 760 m top is plain grass, and the escarpment overlooks the Cerrig Duon stone circle.
