Steep cliffs drop from the eastern flanks of Y Lliwedd to Glaslyn and Llyn Llydaw, and walkers on the Snowdon Horseshoe cross its 897.9 m summit. George Mallory made many of his early climbs here, the 1953 British Everest Expedition trained on it, and its north face was the subject of the first British climbing guide in 1909. Snowdon is 1.6 km away.
