Standing apart from the rest of the Lake District, Binsey is the most northerly Wainwright, and Wainwright himself rated its view highly. The top is an ancient burial mound, whose stones were used to build small circular wind shelters, and it now carries a trig point and a cairn. On a clear day you can see the Solway Firth, Scotland, the Isle of Man and even Slieve Donard in Northern Ireland.
