Bakestall is a shoulder on the north side of Skiddaw, and its highest ground is a grassy spot by a fence corner, with a big cairn a little further north. Below the top, Dead Crags drop steeply into a corrie, and at the foot of the fell Dash Beck tumbles over Whitewater Dash, one of the finest waterfalls in the national park. Skiddaw hides most of the Lake District, but you can see north to the Solway Firth and the Scottish hills.
